In September this year, GEO France got in touch to say they were sending a journalist on the long journey out to Tristan da Cunha, and could they possibly use a series of my images to illustrate their story. The opening paragraph describes how in the middle of the Atlantic, a small British tribe has defied the elements since 1816 – with only nine boats per year visiting from Cape Town.
The piece continues, explaining how the journalist, Jean Christophe Servant, was advised how the population may appear a little shy as they don’t experience visitors from the outside world very much, but once people get to know you and you’re accepted, their generosity is ‘150%’.
You can scroll down to see the the images they selected for the entire 16 page piece – some of which from the edit used in the book, however, it was great to have a different selection of images published.
